The OffCourse Golf Shop is a club repair service and clubmaking shop in Oregon. Located in Tigard, Oregon I am able to service the greater Portland Metro area as well as the upper Willamette Valley.
I offer a personal service and do all club work myself with the same Mitchell Golf Equipment found in the finer club shops and equipment vans on Tour. As a member of the International Clubmakers Guild I have access to many resources to get the most out of your current set or to assemble a new set from the various club component suppliers.
Through the club fitting process I can determine what adjustments can be made that will put your clubhead in the proper position at impact to improve your ball striking. Striking the ball more squarely will result in more on target shots and better distance control. If you are considering a new set of clubs or want to see if your current set is right for your swing you can contact me through the contact page. I look forward to hearing from you to see how I can improve your game.
CERTIFICATION
In the fall of 2010 I completed my training through the Mitchell Golf Institute in Centerville, Ohio. This nationally recognized school awarded me the MASTER CLUB PERFORMANCE SPECIALIST certification upon completion of their specialty schools in Club Performance Fitting, Putter Performance Fitting, Club Repair Technology and Shaft Performance Technology. This group of classes are recognized as the industry standard for teaching modern golf clubfitting and performance. This Master Club Performance Specialist certification recognizes industry professionals who have achieved the ultimate training in club repair, performance upgrades and club performance fitting. I would be happy to share with you my total commitment to club repair performance, club building and fitting.
SERVICES
REGRIPPING Grips should be changed when they become hard and/or slick. If your grips do not feel soft and plyable after a good washing they need to be changed. This is your connection to the entire swing and should be considered a key to solid golf.
SHAFT REPLACEMENT / ADJUSTMENTS In the unfortunate event that a head becomes seperated from it's shaft we can reunite them (most likely with a new shaft). If it is merely loose I can reset it if you have salvaged the shaft.
Shortening or lengthening your shafts is another way to improve your ball striking. Changing the stiffnes of your shafts can also add distance and improve accuracy to your ball flight and we can help you decide which flex is right for you.
LOFT / LIE ADJUSTMENT Hitting the ball squarely is the name of the game. By adjusting your LIE we can straighten out your ball flight. LOFT is an area that controls your distance. By making sure your LOFTS are folowing the proper progression throughout the set you will begin to rely on your distance with each club in the bag.
CLUB FITTING This is the process of determining what, if any, adjustments are needed to your set. By using a dynamic swing fitting with your current clubs I can determine which adjustments will give you the best chance of making solid contact at impact.
This is also the area where swing adjustments can be discussed. Sometimes minor swing changes can eliminate the need for some of the adjustments described here.
CUSTOM CLUBS As a member of the International Clubmakers Guild I have access to a large number of club components that can be assembled just for you and the unquiqe characteristics of your swing.
I am a dealer for Swing Science and Tom Wishon Golf components and I'm able to build you a complete set of clubs through there dealer programs to fit your swing, price range and interests. Both company's offer clubs from the beginner to advanced player in a wide range of game improvement technologies.
SWING COACHING
Through the use of video and the "V one" swing coaching software I am able to record your swing and point out the areas where your alignment and swing plane are creating off center hits that result in poor ball flight, off line direction and inconsistant distance. I can show you swing tips to address the issues we identify and set up a training plan for you to work on at the range.
I have coached a number of golfers in every handicap range and been able to give them a visual image of the changes they need to make for a well balanced and more powerful move through the ball. Several of these people have reduced their handicaps considerably through a better understanding of their swing and the changes they need to make to shoot consistantly lower scores. This process also works hand in hand with my clubfitting training to allow you to feel confident about your equipment and your swing. Contact me to see what kind of a training program we can set up for you.
